Journalism
The Journalism course is aimed at giving the students more than just an overview of the subject; it intends to make the students ready for a career in print journalism and related areas. There will be eight core papers in journalism, covering a broad spectrum of areas of journalism and mass communication. It also will have a parallel set of certificate courses aimed at more specialized areas and skills. The theory papers will aim at making the student aware of the field. The practical and skill-based papers will go a long way in equipping them for the job. It is seen that a broad-based knowledge of the various subjects gives a journalist the perspective in understanding the issues and writing intelligently and in the proper context and right perspective for the lay readers.

Psychology
Psychology is one of the major subjects offered at the undergraduate level as part of the triple major programme. It is a three year full time course aimed at introducing students to the fundamental processes underlying human behavior and familiarize them with a few emerging fields and branches of psychology such as Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Industrial Psychology & Consumer Behaviour, Health Psychology and Positive Psychology. The course also includes two papers of Practical, Statistics and Group Research Projects. The course is part of PSENG (Psychology, Sociology, English) , PSECO (Psychology, Sociology, Economics), CEP (Communicative English, English, Psychology) , JPENG (Journalism , Psychology, English) and PEP (Performing Arts, English, Psychology)

English studies
Literature is an important cultural product of a society or a nation. Hence, the study of literature offers insights into the worldviews of different societies. This course begins with traditional British literature to the present. The course also introduces students to other literatures namely American world, postcolonial and also the Indian literature in translation. The course also introduces students to interdisciplinary studies in culture and gender helping them to gain insights from other disciplines like history, anthropology, sociology etc.

Candidates falling under any of the below mentioned categories must apply under the International Student Category:

  1. Foreign citizens,   
  2. PIO card holders and   
  3. OCI (Dual Citizens)

International students coming from Non-English speaking countries should:

  • produce evidence of passing the qualifying examination in English medium or   
  • have IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score below 5.5 or TOEFL (paper) 550, TOEFL (computer) of 213 or TOEFL (IBT) of 79 scores

Candidates without the above pre-qualifications will have to enroll either for

  • Intensive Certificate course in English Language (Full Time) conducted from March to May each year or   
  • One Semester Certificate course in English Language (Part Time) conducted after regular class hours from June to December.

Note: The International Student category fee structure is binding for the full duration of the programme and cannot be transferred /changed in between.

Candidates from the above listed categories having pursued Indian Educational qualification and who may have applied under the Indian States Category will have to pay the International Student Category Fee. The decision of the Admission committee is final.

Students are welcome to apply under the Non Resident Indian category for the programmes offered by the University

Students who fall under any of the following classifications can apply under NRI Student category and be liable to pay the fees applicable to the category for the entire duration of the programme

1. NRI defined under the Indian Income Tax Law

2. Either of the parents is outside India (except Nepal) on Work Permit / Resident Permit.

3. Indian citizen financed by any Institution / agency outside India, even if parents are Residents of India.

4. Indian Citizen who has pursued studies for qualifying examination in any foreign / Indian syllabus outside India..

5. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the programme for candidates who;
   5.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.

Admission to all programmes is based on academic achievement and CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Selection Process. Candidates should submit the final results of class 12 on or before August 30th of the admission year.

  • Eligibility for the programme is a pass at the +2 level (Karnataka PUC / ISC / CBSE / NIOS / State Boards) from any recognised Board in India.
  • Candidates writing the +2 examinations in March-May 2022 may apply with their class X and XI marks.

Students pursuing International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations:

  • Applicants pursuing IB curriculum must have 3 HL and 3 SL with 24 credits.
  • Applicants pursuing GCE / Edexcel must have a minimum of 3 A levels with a grade not less than C.

# The fee for Karnataka domicile students, as indicated in the table, is the actual fee payable and excludes the scholarship amount.
 
It is to be noted that though the fee is fixed for three years, there may be a periodic nominal increase to meet the rise in costs.
 
1. NRI fee is applicable for the first year for candidates who have studied foreign syllabus (has to be approved by UGC / AIU) in the qualifying examination of study in India. (The above condition is not applicable to NRI and candidates applied under NRI Category).
 
2. NRI fee is applicable for the full duration of the Programme for candidates who;
    2.1. Have pursued and completed their last qualifying exam from outside India.
    2.2. Are NRI and candidates who have applied under the NRI category.
 
3. To claim the Indian / Karnataka category fee, the candidates should have studied last 7 years in India / Karnataka. (Not applicable for OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals).
 
4. Admission registration fee of INR 5000/- is non-refundable in the event of cancellation of admission. This fee will be apart from cancellation charges if applicable.

Important Instructions

  • Read all Important Links (Eligibility, Documents requirements etc) thoroughly.
  • The date and time for the selection process are auto-generated by the system. Therefore, any request for changes will not be entertained.
  • A Google calendar invite will be sent to your registered email id, ONE day before the MP/PI selection process.
  • Candidates failing to appear for the selection process at the stipulated date and time will be considered as “Not Selected”.
  • Candidates must show the original Government recognized photo identity card (Aadhar card/Passport/Voter ID/Recent College ID card) for attending the online selection process. Failing which the application will be considered as “Not Selected”.
  • All original Class 10, Class 12, Degree Marks Card (Students pursuing their final year must have the statement of marks up to the previous semester/year) should be available for verification during the personal interview round.
  • It is recommended to login atleast 15mts before the scheduled time to avoid any last-minute technical glitches.
  • Impersonation or any suspicious behaviour (prompting by a third person or accessing notes/gadgets) will be treated as malpractice and the application will be termed as “Not Selected”.
  • The responsibility of satisfying the eligibility criteria for admission rests with the student/candidate. The issue of the E-Admit Card for the selection process does not imply that the eligibility criteria are satisfied.
